Ilkeston Shotokan Karate Club runs a kids only class on a Thursday evening at Vernon Community Suit, Vernon Road, Ilkeston for students aged from 7 -14 years. The class is from 6.00pm - 7.00pm and is designed to be less intensive than the adult class. The students are still taught the same Karate syllabus but with more demonstrations and explanation of techniques and in a more relaxed way. There is still a level of etiquette expected but there are games at the end of each session. The students are split into two teams and the games usually involve running with some press ups and sit ups. The games are really enjoyed by the students who, even though they are having fun, are still exercising.
